protokolas statusas T sritis informatika apibrėžtis Taisyklių ir susitarimų rinkinys, apibrėžiantis ryšio ir duomenų perdavimo formatus bei procedūras tarp dviejų ar daugiau kompiuterių arba kitokių įrenginių. Paprasčiausiu atveju protokolą sudaro ryšio sintaksės, semantikos ir sinchronizavimo taisyklės. Gali būti realizuojamas aparatūrinėmis arba programinėmis priemonėmis.
